Bow and Arrow Set

When you were little, what was your favourite character to pretend to be? Pretend play is key to the development of young children's foundational skills and the bow and arrow set ignites imagination for pretend play.

At some point every kid pretends to be someone else. Maybe it's a fire fighter, maybe it's a super hero. Perhaps it's a warrior princess, a knight, or an alien that was exiled from her planet and is now trapped in a human body.

Whatever the story, whatever the character, your child's imagination is going to be on fire while he or she is developing language skills (Either through discussing with another child what the story is and what their characters will do), social and emotional skills (Either through re-enacting a scene or "trying out" a type of behaviour), and cognitive thinking skills (Either through problem solving situations where one character has to fly out of a window but the two are nowhere near a window, or finding materials to build or add to their world).

This bow and arrow set is a positive way to encourage pretend play. Not only does it spark imagination as a special or starting prop play, but it also develops hand-eye coordination, balance, concentration, focus, and the ability to understand a mistake (aka growth mindset).

If your child is focused on hitting targets, line the bowling pins on a shelf or coffee table, step back a few feet and fire!

You can also put an artistic spin on this by dipping the arrow head into paint and releasing the arrows into a paper taped to a wall or an easel.

THE DETAILS

The bow is made of pure maple and is finished with linseed oil.
The bow measures 16" (40cm) long and is approximately 6" (16.5cm) wide. It is 1" thick.
The set comes with 3 arrows that are notched to fit into the elastic. If you want 6 arrows, please select that option.
The arrows are 16.5" (42cm) long and come with a 100% merino wool felted ball on the end for padding and safety. The balls have been handmade by my mother-in-law, keeping this a small family business.
The colour selection for the balls/tips of the arrows will be random and is dependent on wool availability. If you need the arrows to be a particular colour, please send me a message BEFORE you finalize your order so I can see if we have the colour available.

The bow and arrow set will shoot an arrow over 30 feet.
