Help your child practice hand-eye coordination skills and learn basic geometric shapes with this walnut and maple shape sorter. Bonus: if you flip it over it becomes a puzzle!

Shapes move from a simple circle (which is one of the first things a little one can draw after horizontal lines) in a graduated order that counts sides: triangle (3 sides), square (4 sides), star (5 points), pentagon (5 sides), and then ending with the elliptical egg to show how a circle can develop in its shape.

This also teaches the movement of progression from left to read, which is super helpful later on when teaching letters and reading.

Materials:

  • maple
  • walnut

Note: the sample picture includes a rare hombre piece of walnut, and yours will likely have full walnut grain throughout and no hombre shading, although the beauty of nature is that everything is wonderfully unique.
