Holiday Tree Kit

Description

A hands-on way to combine the festive spirit with some learning, the Holiday Tree Kit comes with a tree tray, green rice filler, natural wool felt balls, and a link to download the corresponding matching activity cards. While a primary focus of the cards is for visual-spatial development (a helpful activity for those with dyslexia) there are many ways to use them.

All the materials in the kit are open-ended to encourage creativity and exploration, but some of the ways to use them are:

• visual-spatial matching: let your child choose a card and then recreate the position and colour of the felt balls in the tray
• visual-spatial matching: you put the balls in the tray in an arrangement that matches one of the cards and then your child has to find the matching card
• counting: you or your child puts balls into the tray and count as you go, or count after
• cover-and-count: put balls into the tray and count them, then cover a portion and ask your child to tell you how many are underneath
• shapes: arrange four balls into a square and give your child string to “connect the dots” and make the square, or use three balls for a triangle, etc.
